Earnings: Bright Spot For ATI
Graphics maker ATI Technologies reported year-over-year sales growth Wednesday, but chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices reversed course and said that the company's sales revenue would fall sequentially.
ATI recorded revenue for the fourth quarter of $239.5 million, down 10 per cent from $266.2 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2002 ended Aug. 31, but up five per cent from the fourth quarter a year ago. Operating expenses, excluding amortization of intangible assets, increased slightly to $70.1 million from $69.2 million in the previous quarter. Still, ATI said it recorded a net loss on a GAAP basis for the fourth of $32.2 million or $0.14 per share.
