eBay ditches negative feedback option
San Jose (CA) - The feedback system on Ebay will soon only consist of customers leaving comments about individual sellers, putting an end to feedback from the other side of the transaction.
The online auction giant says its rationale behind the move is that users are growing tired of retaliatory feedback, which is causing the entire evaluation procedure to become less useful.
In other words, buyers who leave negative feedback for sellers often receive negative feedback in turn, purely as a means of retaliation, which unfairly harms the buyer’s reputation.
As a result, users are becoming increasingly afraid to post honest comments about poor transactions so that their own feedback is not tarnished in the process.
"The number one reason buyers cited for decreasing or ceasing their activity on eBay was negative unwarranted retaliatory feedback they received from sellers. It’s cited as a bigger problem than even not receiving shipment," said Ebay spokesperson Usher Lieberman.
The policy change will go into effect within the upcoming few weeks.

Talk about dumb. Why don't they just hold the display of feedback until both parties have submitted it. Then it'd be totally honest. Also people would be more inclined to give feedback, as otherwise they wouldn't receive any. At the moment sellers don't have to give feedback, as they always want buyers to give it first.
I go one step further than not giving -ve feedback and refuse to buy anything on auction, and from anyone that doesn't have at least 100 feedbacks to at least 99%.
I aggree this is dumb, technically i would say the Seller should have to post a comment before the buyer, the buyer's responsobility is to pay the money on time and as far as I see it thats it. the Seller has to post a decent description, and post the item out within the stated time and wait for the seller to check the item compared to the description before a feedback should be left.

but as stated in the artical above people do do the whole thing of leaveing bad feedback to the buyer if the seller received a bad feedback. also with the power Sellers they kind of use it as a bullying tactic as one or two bad feedbacks doesnt look to bad for them as they have so many customers but most buyers dont have many feedbacks and receiveing one bad feedback can make there account untrust worthy.
hope that made sense . . . to some people
