E3 Game Roundup

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Nearly all of the world's top game developers are out struttin' their stuff at E3. Literally hundreds of games are announced and demonstrated at the Expo. We're mainly concerned with hardware here at Tom's, so we'll just give you a few highlights. For the PC, we saw Fox Interactive's Die Hard: Nakatomi , Remedy's Max Payne , a trailer for 3D Realms' Duke Nukem Forever , and found out that 3DO's Heroes of Might and Magic IV will be released this fall. For PlayStation 2 we eyeballed Twisted Metal: Black , Crystal Dynamics' Soul Reaver 2 , and Capcom's Resident Evil Code: Veronica X . Microsoft announced that Capcom is developing three games for Xbox including Dino Crisis 3 (tentative title) and a robot-sim game currently called BRAIN-BOX . In addition, more than 25 companies have signed on to develop broadband games for Microsoft. Many developers plan to hit all platforms in one fell swoop. One case in point is Acclaim Max Sports' announcement that Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 will ship for PlayStation 2, GAMECUBE, Xbox, and even Game Boy Advance. Sega, whose Dreamcast console seems to be left in the dust these days, is now developing games all of its competitors' consoles. We also heard about a bunch of games for cell phones, Gameboy Advance, and other versions of Gameboy. This assortment of games is certainly not comprehensive and, with no attempts at prioritizing the importance of the games or the platforms, we hope the flames will stay quelled. For really complete coverage of the games released this week, check out Gamespot's E3 coverage .
