Doom 3 to go on sale early August
Chicago (IL) - US retailers indicate on their websites that the highly anticipated third generation of Doom will ship between August 1 and 3.
Publisher Activision so far declined to comment on the launch date of the game, but hinted to "Summer" as a general guideline. Online retail stores however give clear dates when users will able to order id Software’s game : CompUSA

Little information has been published about the game. Preparing users for the the product, Activision and id have begun in May pitching bits and pieces about the game. "Doom 3 is the most anticipated PC game of the year and fans around the world are eagerly awaiting its release," Activision CEO Ron Doonink was quoted on May 11. "Id is delivering the most compelling horror gaming experience to date." Promised Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id Software, who compared Doom 3 to a "first-class trip to Mars - with a layover in hell." Doom 3 continues a series of one of the most successful video games ever published. The history of Doom now spans over more 10 years. The first title, published in December 1993, is considered to be the pioneer of today’s first-person-shooters. Doom 2 was published as sequel with improved graphics in October 1994. The development of Doom 3 was announced in 2001.
