Digital Video Systems intros 6.2X DVD-ROM Drive
Digital Video Systems has announced one of the fastest DVD-ROM drives yet: The DVS DSR-600H DVD-ROM drive operates at 6.2 times DVD standard read speed, and 32 times CD-ROM speed.
Samples of the 6.2X DVD-ROM drive will be available for evaluation shortly, with full production slated to begin in late February. The drive is backward-compatible with DVD-Video, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, and virtually all CD formats. The 6.2X DVD-ROM drive also supports Ultra DMA-33 mode, which provides for data transfer throughput at double the speed of EIDE mode.
