Diamond ships 10 Mbit home network
S3 subsidiary Diamond Multimedia has announced shipment of its HomeFree Phoneline 10Mbps home networking product.
Diamond's new networking devices transfer information between PCs 10 times faster than current 1Mbps products, and are designed to provide consumers with enough bandwidth to share Internet access, printers, files and even digital music.
By bundling its Rio Audio Manager software with the new product, Diamond intends for consumers to sample and distribute music throughout their home using the system.
The PCI networking cards connect multiple PCs using consumers' existing phone lines, without interfering with voice telephone calls.
The $129.95 HomeFree Phoneline 10 Mbps is currently shipping to retailers, and is available direct from Diamond at www.estore.diamondmm.com .
