Diamond, ESS team on new audio cards

Diamond Multimedia Systems will offer next-generation PC audio solutions based on ESS Technology Inc.'s chip platform.

The new Diamond accelerators will provide 3D sound technology under the company's Monster Sound and Sonic Impact brands.

ESS officials say their sound technology will allow users of Diamond's next-generation audio cards to experience up to six-speaker, theater sound quality from their PC. "Sound as low as a whisper or as intense as a freight train will attain a new realism," said F. Skip Effler, ESS' vice president for sales and marketing.
