DFI AM33 Series Motherboards

by - source: Tom's Hardware

We don't have a picture of these boards yet, but how much can you learn from looking at a picture anyway (just making excuses here). DFI just let use know that it is producing a new series of motherboards based on VIA KLE133 chipsets. The company says the design of DFI's AM33 series of motherboards is targeted toward consumer apps and low price. The microATX AM33 motherboards support the Socket A processor structure, use VIA KLE133 chipsets (as mentioned), and support 200/266MHz FSB AMD Athlon and Duron processors. The boards have two built-in SRDAM DIMM slots for up to 1GB memory capacity, 3 PCI slots and 1 CNR slot, a built-in AC'97 codec sound chip, and optional built-in LAN capabilities (AM33-EL). The AM33 motherboards will also support the upcoming -1.5GHz AMD Athlon processors up to 1GHz Durons, provide a "Stepless Frequency Selection (SFS)" function that provides overclocking capabilities, and support ATA/100 as well as STR (Suspend-to-RAM). As far as the low price...we don't know what it is yet...but you now have the specs, so if you're interested in the board, keep an eye out for it. Maybe you'll even find a picture.
