Dell's 20" Flat Panel Monitor
I've often said that, as soon as 21" flat-panel displays drop below $1,000, I'll be the first to replace the behemoth that turns my desk into a monitor stand. To be honest, I'm hoping it doesn't happen until next year since right now the economy would make a liar out of me. Dell's new 20" flat-panel isn't quite at the price point I'm looking for, but it's in the ballpark. Right now, the Dell 2000FP is available to U.S. customers when ordered with a Dell Precision Workstation. Later this year, it should be available bundled with Dell Dimension desktops, then finally as a stand-alone purchase through Dell. The company says the $1,399 (when bundled) monitor gives you the viewing area of a 21" CRT display and offers picture-in-picture capability with analog, digital, S-video and composite inputs.
