Dell XPS 14z Ultra-Thin Laptop Rolls Out in China
Dell just launched a new super-thin laptop, the XPS 14z.
For now the 14z is only available in China, but it is expected that it will arrive on these shores before Christmas. The notebook weighs about 4.4 pounds and comes with a 14-inch, 1366x768 pixel LED screen, as well as a slot-loading DVD burner. Dell promises a battery time of 7 hours.
According to initial reports the 14z will sport an anodized aluminum case that integrates Core i5 and i7 dual-core Sandy Bridge processors and can be paired with Nvidia GeForce GT 520M graphics units. A base model with 4GB of memory, a 500 GB hard drive and a 1 GB graphics card is offered for just over $1200 in China.
Since then The 15z sells between $1000 and $1160 in the U.S., but is priced at the equivalent of close to $1600 in China, we would expect the 14z to be offered for substantially less than $1000 when it becomes available.
