Dell to Release New PDA at Comdex
Dell Corporation has announced that its new Personal Data Assistant (PDA), the Pocket PC Dell Axim X5, will be available for purchase on November 18th. Dell's announcement was vague as to price and specifications, but Dell's website offers a sneak preview of its features. It reportedly includes standard handheld PDA features of calendar, e-mail and contacts synchronization with a desktop computer, in addition to wireless versions of Microsoft application programs technology. The Axim X5 will be unveiled at Fall 2002 Comdex in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 18th. Sources close to Dell report that Dell's Axim X5 release will include two devices, priced at $199 US and $299 US, respectively. An internal Dell document leaked to the Internet recently contained information that the two Dell handheld models will feature different processors: the $199 Axim will contain a 300MHz Intel XScale chip, while the $299 device will use a 400MHz Intel XScale chip.
