Dell shrinks OptiPlex
Dell is using a new OptiFrame S chassis to shrink the size of its OptiPlex PCs by 44 percent.
The small form factor chassis is 3.6 inches high, 12.5 inches wide, and 14.9 inches deep. It is initially available with the OptiPlex GX1 systems, although Dell plans to include the new chassis onnumerous OptiPlex platforms in the future.
The OptiFrame S chassis includes a push-button cover access and a lever-actuated card cage. Toolless access and serviceability is possible because hard drives and other storage peripherals can be removed easily without tools. A sealed configuration is also available.
Configurations and prices for the new GX1 systems can be found at www.dell.com .
