Dell preps speedier servers
Dell Computer will introduce two new enterprise servers to replace its PowerEdge 6300 and 6350.
The four-processor PowerEdge 6400 and 6450 servers will operate on 550MHz Pentium III Xeon chips from Intel when they ship at the end of the month, but will be equipped with Xeon chips that run at 700MHz to 800MHz by the end of May, Dell officials said.
Both models are targeted at the Internet market to run applications or database tasks.
