Dell expands its Latitudes

Dell Computer has announced three new configurations of its Latitude CPi corporate notebook PC, as well as new versions of its docking station and port replicator for the Latitude C-family models.

Of the three new models, only the Latitude CPi R400 GT is available now. It includes a 400MHz mobile Pentium II processor, a 14" display, 4MB of VRAM, and a new chassis. Additionally, the standard configuration for all of the new Latitude CPi notebooks includes 64MB of RAM, a 6.4GB hard drive, a 24X CD-ROM drive, and 3 years of next-business-day onsite service. The Latitude CPi R400 GT is being sold for $2,999.

Both the Latitude CPi A400XT and A366ST will be available later. The Latitude CPi A400XT features a 400MHz mobile Pentium II processor and a 13.3" active matrix display, while the Latitude CPi A366ST features a 366MHz Pentium II processor and a 12.1" active matrix display. Estimated prices for the models are $2,999 and $2,499, respectively.

The updated C/Dock II docking station and the C/Port II port replicator will be compatible with the entire Latitude C-family line. The C/Dock II will have two PCI card slots and a media bay. Both will feature a new locking mechanism and are due out next quarter. The C/Dock II with monitor stand will sell for $699, while the C/Port II with monitor stand will be priced at $399.
