Dell Drops High-End Plans, Debuts Entry-Level Server
Dell just launched a new entry-level box: the PowerEdge 400SC, a single-processor server powered by 3.2 GHz Pentium processor with 4 GB of memory. The server retails for $499. Although Dell had been working with Intel to develop an eight-way Xeon server for its product line, the company has decided to cancel that project.
