Dell Drops Price of Adamo Ultraportable

by - source: Tom's Hardware US

Dell Adamo today is $500 cheaper.

The ultra sleek and slim Dell Adamo came at a price, a very hefty price. Many saw it as the PC's answer to Apple's MacBook Air

At launch time, for $1,999 the Adamo carried a 1.2 GHz Core 2 Duo U9300 processor with 2 GB of DDR3 memory. If you were willing to pay an additional $700, you got a processor bump up to 1.6 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, and a built-in 3G wireless card.

During the same period, the $1,799 MacBook Air shipped with a 1.6 GHz Core 2 Duo as well as Nvidia's 9400M graphics, giving it a solid advantage in both general processing and graphics muscle at a lower price point.

Then Apple in June dropped the prices of its entire MacBook line, with a hefty cut going to the SSD-equipped Air.

Today Dell finally took action and slashed prices of its Adamo. The previous $1,999 1.2 GHz model is now $500 cheaper at $1,499. The top-end 1.6 GHz model receives a smaller cut of $400, now at $2,299.
