DeCSS dispute goes to appeals court
Tuesday, a panel of appellate judges will meet to determine whether to uphold a lower court ruling against hacker Website 2600, barring links to the DeCSS code designed to bypass DVD limitations. Analysts say the case could provide precedent that will have far-reaching impact on the way links and copyrights are legally treated on the Web. The case will also provide the first indications of how well the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, strongly supported by the entertainment business, may hold up in the future.
