Debian founder joins Sun Microsystems
Debian founder Ian Murdock is joining Sun Microsystems. Murdock confirmed the move in a blog post that you can read here. Murdock will head Sun’s operating systems platform strategy and as a consequence will leave the Linux Foundation.
Murdock says recent years haven’t been kind to Sun Microsystems, but adds that "the corner has been turned." He writes that the company has successfully moved away from proprietary hardware and into x86 architecture.
Not much is know about Murdock’s new job, but he speculates that he’ll be advocating that Solaris needs to be more user-friendly.
