Nanya: DDR2 shortage to increase to 30-40% this quarter

With PC OEMs expected to increase their DDR2 penetration rates to 80% by the end of this quarter, Taiwan memory maker Nanya Technology predicts that the DDR2 shortage should increase to 30-40% in February, with related contract prices growing more than 10%, according to company spokesperson, Pei-lin Pai. Although DDR2 penetration rates among PC OEMs are rapidly picking up, DRAM makers are not keeping apace with the strong demand growth, which should exacerbate the DDR2 shortage in February, Pai noted.
