D-Link also spreading its draft 11n bets, this time with Marvell
Santa Clara (CA) - Marvell late today announced that its ’TopDog’ 802.11n IEEE draft-compliant wireless chipsets have been selected by D-Link for its draft 802.11n product line.
The announcement begs the question of whether Marvell is replacing Atheros in D-Link’s RangeBooster N 650 series draft 11n products that were announced only a week ago. But Daniel Kelley, director of marketing at D-Link, quickly put that question to rest.
"Atheros is definitely our lead chip vendor for draft 11n products", Kelley told Tom’s Networking. Kelley also said that products based on Marvell’s chipsets would be announced in the "next couple of weeks."
D-Link joins Netgear as the second company to announce a two-vendor draft 11n product strategy, and is the second to tap Marvell.
