Extra Crysis 2 Screenshots: NYC at Night

by - source: Tom's Hardware UK

Just don't go into the subway. Oh wait, you have a nanosuit. It's all good, then.

Crysis 2, the new game by which to measure your gaming rig up against. But it'll also be coming to consoles, which is good news for those who don't have beefy computer systems.

The guys at Crytek promise that regardless of system, it'll be one of the best looking games available to the platform.

While we know how impressive the CryEngine is when dealing with lush, outdoor, brightly lit environments, let's take a look at how Crysis 2 will look when showing off the Big Apple at night.

The lighting looks pretty impressive. Pity the same can't be said for the gameplay!

Can I pick up one of those battle mechs and lob it through a skyscraper to crush a platoon of enemy troops?

No?

Not interested, and no point in having a nanosuit.

Hey... wait a minute... where'd the palm trees go? Thought CryEngine could only do palm trees

It's a nice start with the eye candy but for me, gameplay is 80% of the experience but at least if i get bored I can be amazed at the 3D rendering.

have you played it yet? You must have as you're commenting on the gameplay.

As for Crysis 1 and Warhead, I enjoyed my time playing and completing them. No better or worse than Far Cry etc.

"OmG no tRREs!?!1!!?/ WTF r U doing wit my game!?" People need to stop with the hate towards Crysis 2. We already have Crysis and Warhead, they dont need to make another tropical duck hunt. Change is good, have you not seen a Honda advert?

I was thinking that too. Hard to comment on gameplay when you've not played the game. Unless you just don't like FPS's in which case, no point reading the article in the first place.

I agree actually. Was being facetious. Besides, I'm sure there'll be some nice trees in Central Park.

It wasnt directed at your comment, it was more the general responce of everyones reaction to the whole game, I do agree with what you said aswell though. The trees were the focal point of the original.

I really don't understand the Crysis-hate. I've played Crysis on a C2D running at 1.8GHz on Intel integrated graphics (for a laugh) and it ran nice and smooth. Granted, I had to drop all graphics to their lowest and it looked like Doom, but it was simply designed to scale across the whole range of PCs - from the lowest to the top there were graphics settings to match your PC, not like most games where a medium rig can run it maxed out. I think Crysis was very well coded and it was nice to have a game to really show off your new graphics card when you upgraded ("OMG, with my new card I can get 180FPS where before I was only on 140FPS!")

As for the discussion on the gameplay - I'll be waiting until I've played it to pass judgement there.

Obviously my previous comment about 140FPS/180FPS was about most games that you're already playing on maxed quality before your upgrade your GPU, not Crysis. Just not sure if that comes across from re-reading. Sorry.

The point of the nano suit is because IT IS the future weapon. Obviously this isn't some game where someone wheres this puny suit and carry a 100ton mech across the street and throws it at a bunch of infantry. Also the story is that your gonna to be supposedly fighting the aliens more than humans. Don't trash a game you haven't played. The nanosuit also provides tactical ability. It later is supposed to "bond" somehow with you. It's not just for fashion.
