Crysis 2 SP Shootout: PC vs. Xbox 360 vs. PS3
Almost anyone can play Crysis 2.
Crysis 2 represents a new sort of game making philosophy for Crytek. The first Crysis was so insane that not even the highest-end of PCs at release-time were able to run it smoothly with all settings at the highest level. The first Crysis was a game that was definitely made to be best experienced on a desktop of the future.
Crysis 2, on the other hand, is a game that was made for the mainstream gaming PCs of today, as well as the console of five years ago. For those expecting the type of envelope pushing of the first game, it's a disappointment – but the flipside is that now everyone can play Crysis.
Now that the final retail version of Crysis 2 is out, now there's been enough time for a direct PC vs. console comparison. The good news is that the PC is still the best platform for Crysis 2. Even a computer running a GeForce 8800GT can pull ahead of the console versions in terms of resolution and smoothness.
If you have anything older than that though, the consoles match the PC experience very closely (though some would argue that it's the PC that's matching the console experience). Perhaps the PC can pull even further ahead when DX11 gets injected into the game.
Check out the handful of PC vs. console videos below. For the best effect, view them on YouTube and use the highest resolution possible.

"but the flipside is that now everyone can play Crysis."
You mean COD with the Suit. This game has no where near the same expereince Crysis brought to the table. It doesnt have the open world, it doenst have vehicles, it doesnt have the destructible environment, textures are half the size as well.
Usint the Crysis name to sell the game is fail, they might as well have created a new IP.
graphics look pretty much the same (maybe my screen isn't big enough?) which makes me sad that i paid so much for my computer
and who says the original crysis had an open world? you must be playing a different version to me. the crysis i played was quite linear with the 'illusion' of an open world; it looked big, but generally block you in with mountains and walls, so wasn't really open world at all.
all in all, crysis 2 looks sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! and i can't wait to play
big cat, this is the game running at 720p we will be runing it at 1080p, plus we will load it with settings at max and get way better graphics
this is a test on framrates and smoothness not graphics
I'd like to just point out that despite all the bad press before this game was released, that I was still looking forward to what looked to be an epic shooter.
I'm going to keep this as short and sweet as I possibly can, because it's already been said by most of the community (and I'm not just talking about the PC community)
Crysis 2 is a MASSIVE let down. Whatever angle you care to look at it, it is no-where near the game it should be. The shear amount of time and effort it must have taken Crytek to get this game to look as good as it does - and for it to work on the 360 limited memory capabilities boggles the mind. Because no-matter how good the content looks, it's extremely apparent this game has been 'boxed in' to accommodate the limited technology.
It is not internet gossip, Crytek have simply sold out the PC community to achieve maximum buck (no pun intended, maybe)
This although productive for release, is counter productive in the long term. People still acknowledge Crysis today for it's achievements in both gameplay and graphical advancements in PC gaming. Crysis 2 on the other hand goes backwards in all directions. Crytek are of course fairly new to the scene by all means, but even more so the console scene. I would put money and possibly my left nut on the fact that they will not be remembered for this game. It is for lack of a better suited phrase - a steaming pile of crap
