Crucial RealSSD C300 Has 355MB/s Read Speed
Were you looking for an SSD... or a FAST SSD?
SSDs are for the performance enthusiast who isn't afraid to pay top dollar for speedy storage. For the even more hardcore SSD enthusiast who is even bolder with the budget, Crucial is now offering its RealSSD C300 series.
The Crucial RealSSD C300 boasts sequential read speeds up to 355MB/s and a sequential write speed of up to 215MB/s, all on a SATA 6Gbps interface.
That kind of performance won't come cheap as the 256GB model is $800 and the somewhat more affordable 128GB model is $500.
Any takers?

hmmm... dispite the price, that will be VERY tempting when getting a new motherboard...
tooo pricey...
355MB/s OMG ^^, My little HDD Samsung writing 74MB/s. So expansive for me moreover I have still not MB with S-Ata III.
I'm still 6 months away from being able to build my new system, so we'll see how this pans out.
May be too pricey now, but as more companies up their speeds with SATA III the price will come down.
All I need then is for TRIM to work on RAID and I'm happy.
I think that 2011 will be the SSD year. Just wait !!
I was Really excited about these drives and the 128GB model...

But... They increased the pre-release announced price of the 128GB drive from $399 to $499 partly off the back of good reviews I am guessing
The reviews examined the 256GB drive in all I saw.
with claimed
Read 355MBs
Write 215MBs
The 128GB drive however has:
Read 355MBs
Write about 140MBs
The 128 GB model has 33% slower write IOPs and 35% slower Sequential writes 140 down from 215MBs - they just almost always fail to mention it everywhere, even on Crucials site!
Not too happy about all that.
Unless you are buying the 256GB version, the most interesting drive out there now is perhaps the Vertex Limited Edition - though it is using the new SandForce controller which is untried and untested live in consumer hands and so carries a certain amount of gamble --- Anands demo unit dropped dead 2 weeks into playing with it, but no bricked reports on this final release model.
Else stay with the tried and tested - or wait for the new 25nm drives in Qtr 4 which will be bigger, faster and hopefully cheaper
Time to upgrade from my twin striped VelociRaptors me thinx: 160Mb writes now seem so last year....
