Fake Craiglist ad leads to home burglary
Tacoma (WA) - A Tacoma homeowner has been cleaned out after someone posted a Craigslist ad that asked people to take whatever they wanted from the house. People responding to the ad took mirrors, water heaters and even the proverbial kitchen sink. Rayes recently evicted her sister from the property and she suspects that other family members may have placed the ad.
The Craigslist ad told people that the homeowner was moving out and that anything inside could be taken. The ad has since been pulled from the popular ad site, but the damage has already been done.
According to King5 news, the police are considering this to be a civil case and will not be investigating the theft. In addition, Craigslist has told Raye that it cannot release information about the poster unless she obtains a search warrant or subpoena.
