Corning is considering building a glass substrate plant in China, with the location to be in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, or Beijing, with Clark S Kinlin, CEO of Corning China, having visited Kunshan in May, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News.
China currently has two major large-size TFT LCD makers, Beijing BOE Optoelectronics Technology (BOE OT) and Shanghai SVA-NEC Liquid Crystal Display, which is located near Kunshan and which is currently a customer of Corning.
