Core Duo an ideal CPU for a low-power desktop system?

With only 25% the power consumption of a regular Intel dual-core processor, Core Duo has been speculated to be the best choice for users who need to run a low-power desktop computer. As a follow up to an initial test which described a 37 watt Pentium M-based desktop computer, Tom’s Hardware has published an article that examines Intel’s Core Duo processor in desktop systems : Our engineers compared a current T2600 (2.13 GHz) CPU with a Pentium M 780 as well as AMD Turion MT-40 and an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ processor.
