Console gamers start file-sharing

The impact and scope of peer-to-peer file-sharing continues to spread. Joining music and movie traders, those who run games designed for consoles, such as the Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis, on PC emulation software can now exchange files through a site called RomNet. Trading software copied from video game cartridge chips, or ROM, will almost certainly be viewed as piracy and is therefore problematic for the 17-year-old founder and his associates who are expressing confidence in their ability to survive a legal assault.
