Introduction of Merom and Conroe on schedule despite Vista delay
Intel has decided to follow through with its current schedule for the launch of its microprocessor architecture and - and not wait for Windows Vista, industry sources suggested today. Previously, Intel apparently had played with the idea of closely aligning the introduction of Merom (Core Duo T7000 series) and Conroe (Core Duo E4000/E6000 series) with the release of Microsoft’s new operating system.
Intel declined to comment on a possible impact of the new processors as a result of Microsoft’s decision to delay the launch of Vista. However, spokesman George Alfs told TG Daily that the launch schedules of Merom and Conroe are progressing at "full steam."
The desktop processor Conroe is expected to become available in September of this year, while the mobile CPU Merom will follow in October or November, according to sources.
