Yes, we know that a few weeks ago we reported that NVIDIA was the crown prince of workstation graphics according to Gartner Dataquest. Today, however, Jon Peddie Associates announced that its data confirms 3Dlabs as the top dog in the market for "workstation-level 3D graphics." The data is put forth in JPA's April NT/Windows 2001 Workstation Market Study . JPA calculated 3Dlabs' market share as 35%, besting ATI and NVIDIA. Gartner's report places NVIDIA at the top of the workstation game with 34%. No matter how you look at it, that's a pretty close horse race. Who you believe will probably come down to who you trust, and a close look how each research group defines a "workstation."
