Computex: SiS Announces SDRAM/DDR solution for Pentium 4
Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) announced a new chipset, the SiS645, a two-chip combo that will support DDR or SDRAM for Pentium 4. Both chips will be connected using the 533 MB/s PepLink bus, eliminating the old PCI connection. PepLink is the new name for SiS's proprietary multi-threaded I/O link between the North and South Bridge and PCI bus. SiS claims a bandwidth of up to 1.2 GB per second, ten times of that for traditional PCI bus (133MB) between chipset. In addition, SiS also has implemented PepLink to connect its 740 chipset for Athlon CPUs, which requires the SiS961 South Bridge.
