Computex: CyberLink's DV Suite
CyberLink says the new DV suite it is showing at Computex tries to have individual software applications target different stages of user operation, rather than have a single product that does it all. The programs in the company's new DV suite include PowerVCR II 3.0 for TV and digital video recording on a computer; PowerDirector for importing and editing video from DV camcorders through IEEE 1394 (Fire Wire) connections, VCD or non-CSS DVD files, and other video sources; PowerDVD 3.0, a software DVD player; and StreamAuthor for streaming presentations using Windows Media Format and MPEG encoding technologies. No pricing is listed for the individual components, but the "buy only what you need" philosophy sounds good in theory.
