CompUSA, AOL to launch PC line
PC retailer CompUSA has formed a two-year alliance with America Online to sell PCs customized for the AOL online service.
The PCs will carry the CompUSA brand name, and include a customized AOL keyboard with one-button access to AOL. CompUSA also will preinstall AOL and CompuServe software on all CompUSA-brand PCs sold in its stores, as well as selling the software separately. The new products are expected to be on store shelves in September.
The PCs will also be eligible for $400 rebates when buyers sign up for 36 months of CompuServe.
