Compaq suffers iMac attack
Compaq will tip its hat to the Apple iMac school of design, when it debuts a new, USB-friendly PC at the Consumer Electronics Show next month.
The "retro" design, which sources say looks like a toaster, promises to follow the best-selling iMac's lead by eliminating legacy connectors and components in favor of a USB interface for all peripheral devices.
The product won't resemble Compaq's other legacy-free PC, the iPaq, which is aimed at corporations. The $499-to-$799 iPaq was unveiled in early November.
