Compaq seeks to withhold Alpha licenses
Compaq has asked federal regulators to back off a demand that the company license its Alpha processor technology to competitors such as IBM and AMD.
The licensing requirement is part of a prior consent agreement Compaq reached with the Federal Trade Commission.
Compaq made the request weeks before announcing a new $500 million Alpha processor alliance with Samsung.
