Virtual Games Inc. and Compaq Computer have announced the VRX-633, an open architecture immersive arcade platform.
The platform runs games on a modified Compaq Deskpro EP computer, using mechanical and electronic innovations covered by six of Virtual Games' pending patents.
The system combines full VGA video, 3D audio surround sound, and high-speed fiber optic and infrared data links to provide a virtual reality experience for arcade-style gaming.
The platform will be formally introduced at the Amusement Showcase International Show in Las Vegas on March 10.
