Compaq adopts 550MHz Pentium III
The Compaq Professional Workstation AP200, AP400 and AP500 families have also been refreshed with single or dual 550MHz Pentium III processors.
The 550MHz Pentium III will be available on Compaq's consumer line, the Presario 5600i Internet PC, starting at $1889.
Compaq will also be reducing prices on its current Presario 5600i Pentium III configurations by up to $230. These systems are available through Compaq "Built For You" kiosks located at selected retailers, or direct from Compaq.
The 550MHz chip also will be available on the Prosignia Desktop 330 line as a configurable option.
