COMDEX: NEC's MobilePro P300 PDA

by - source: Tom's Hardware

NEC says its new MobilePro P300 Pocket PC is designed specifically for the corporate market, which means that, along with tons of features, it also has a price tag that consumers not attempting to kill off a corporate IT budget will probably balk at. The P300 has integrated CompactFlash Type II and Secure Digital expansion slots and operates on Microsoft's Windows-Powered Pocket PC 2002 software. The MobilePro P300 weighs less than seven ounces and is a svelte .74 inches deep. It's powered by a 206MHz Intel StrongARM 32-bit RISC processor and features 64MB of memory that includes 32MB RAM and a 32MB SD memory card with every system. The MobilePro P300 also includes a 32MB flash ROM with an embedded synchronization client on board, ships with a suite of business and entertainment apps, and features a 3.8" TFT reflective front-lit display with support for more than 65,000 colors. A standard configuration with 32MB SD card, USB cradle, stylus, and LCD protection cover sells for approximately $599 (U.S.) and $939 (Canada) and comes with a one year limited warranty covering parts, labor and hardware technical support. For no additional cost, you also get one year of NEC's "UltraCare Service," including a deal that lets you receive a replacement system the next business day if the thing goes South.
