Colubris adds 11a/b/g products, intros WLAN management system

Colubris Networks today The new products include :

CN3200 Integrated Access Point and Controller
CN320 Satellite Access Device
CN1250 Secure Enterprise WLAN Access Device
CN1220 Enterprise WLAN Access Device

The CN3200 and CN320 are positioned for public hotspot networks, while the CN1250 and CN1220 are intended for "enterprise" use. All of the new devices feature a software selectable 802.11 a/b/g radio , U/L plenum-certified enclosure, "Virtual AP" capability (which provides up to 16 different Wi-Fi services through a single device). They also support Colubris’ new "Wireless Extension Architecture" which does not require special WLAN switch hardware. Colubris declined to name the wireless chipset supplier for its new radios.

Colubris also announced that business traveler broadband provider STSN will be using Colubris APs "as a component" in their hotel and conference center networks.

Colubris has licensed Airwave Wireless ’ technology as the basis of its new Colubris Networks Management System (CNMS). CNMS is a web-browser-based console for configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting a network of intelligent WLAN access equipment. The company says the open standards-based system can monitor and manage "thousands of Wi-Fi access devices from multiple vendors", and can be equippped with an optional module that provides rogue detection using WLAN scanning and wireline discovery techniques.

The CN1250, CN3200 and CNMS are available immediately with the CN320 and CN1220 following next month . The products will be sold primarily through VARs. US list prices are CN320 - $499, CN3200 - $799, CN1220 - $649, CN1250 - $899, CNMS - starts at $3,500.
