Color printers follow the free PC trend
Tektronix has adapted the free PC model to the color printer market.
In Tektronix' program, users must agree to maintain a minimum monthly printing volume and to buy color ink from Tektronix for three years. In return, they'll receive a Phaser 840 color printer, valued at $2,499, with free shipping, as much black ink as needed and three years of on-site service and support.
Tektronix says customers can return the printer for free if they aren't satisfied. The cost of the color ink for the three-year support contract is valued at $4,600.
