Modern Warfare 2 PC Won't Have Console
This won't be pleasing to the hardcore.
Are you a COD4 fan just frothing at the mouth waiting for Modern Warfare 2? Many of us are too. Those of us who are looking forward to playing it on the PC have been given small frights with the rumored delay (now found untrue), and the sadly true news of the lack of dedicated servers.
Now those who are extremely hardcore into the PC versions of Call of Duty may find another slightly disappointing bit of news to do with Modern Warfare 2 – players won't have access to the console for advanced settings and options.
Vince Zampella of Infinity Ward confirmed the news in a community chat when a player asked if it'd be possible to change the FOV, weapon damage, perks, graphical debris, breathing sway, etc.
Zampella simply replied, "We would like you to play the game the way we designed and balanced it."
Other interesting Q&A bits from Mackey McCandlish include:
Mackey-IW: Players do not control who hosts.
Mackey-IW: Only players capable of hosting will be host.
Mackey-IW: Games cap out at 9v9. The software has great latency tolerance. See above!
Mackey-IW: I've been playing mainly with around 100ms ping and it was great.

Sigh. TDM will never be the same. I really hope they make a hardcore mod.
Iv been waiting, much like any other pc fps fan, with high expectaions of MW2 after the brilliance of MW, but due to the changes that IW have insisted on making, which i feel are aimed to standardise gameplay on PC and consoles without the added benefit of cross format play, I am seriously considering not getting this game.
This is a real shame as from what I've seen of the single player, it looks fantastic, but single player can only tide you over for so long before the need to play online. The limit of 9 vs 9 seems another effort to standardise the game over the 3 platforms.
Heres hoping for IW to have secretely implemented cross platform play, however I feel the reality will just be a Pc multiplayer experience which is crippled in comparison to MW.
Make a hardcore mod??...give the extent to which they have castrated the pc version of this game there won't be any hardcore to make a mode for.
My opinion ,it is the way to limit grafical experience to the console platform level. Basically that is't good thing for pc, it means that grafics level will be lower than it could be.
this game is shit. SOUTH AFRICAN gamers WILL NOT SUPPORT it.
we bought pc's to play pc games, not play console games (excluding emulators)
I Think the main problem with MW2 has come from the merger between Blizzard and Activision. Blizzard are well known for tying their games up as much as possible in order to milk their customers to the maximum, the influences can be seen right through this game.
The so called IW.net for gaming, the removal of Console and the failure to provide an SDK, the removal of dedicated servers. The release is just a stepping stone to the true aims that Blizzard have, to charge a monthly subscription to play the games online. MW3 will be subscription based I am sure of it, they are taking the WoW model and trying to apply it to all major gaming franchises they have now.
How far will it go? I wouldn't surprise me to see them charging $10 a month to play online, then the additional costs, want a silencer for that MP5 that will be $15 please, you already see it now in WoW all the extra charges for additional content, as if charging so much for a monthly subscription wasn't bad enough
It wont happen with this game, this is just the test run, but it is the future Blizzaed see for gaming as a whole.
I know me and all my clan mates are refusing to buy this game, the lash back has been huge, whether or not everyone sticks to it and continues to buy is another matter though. I do hope so, but we will see
Who plays this POS anyway? There's far better games out there, even 2 years old.
No one plays it. It's not out yet.
I was referring to the whole COD series...
Well your wrong, cod4 is awesome.
Well, then you missed the best one around - COD4 is pure awsomeness!
'you're' short for 'you are' not 'your'...And I stopped playing COD after COD3 I think, wasn't and isn't worth it.
Sorry I'm too busy playing cod4 and having an amazing time to check my spelling.
I will probably aquire a copy of this game... not worth my hard earned money.
Shame that COD4 was so good.
I knew MW2 was going to be a let down when 50 Cent had a part in it.
