CMC, Ritek to raise funds to produce Blu-ray/HD-DVD discs
CMC Magnetics and Ritek, the top two makers of optical discs in Taiwan, will each float unsecured ECBs (euro convertible bonds) worth $200 million in order to procure manufacturing equipment for Blu-ray and/or HD-DVD discs, while also bolstering their finances, according to the two companies. CMC’s ECBs will be for five years at zero interest, whereas Ritek has not yet determined the period and interest rate for its ECBs.
