Inside The Threat, Continued

by

Super Mario Bros. (1993): The first live-action film based on a video game from Hollywood, it had talent: actors Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo and Dennis Hopper; and a soundtrack from Roxette (just kidding). Sadly, Super Mario Bros. just provided the first proof that what works in a video game may not always work in a movie. Had there been no popular video game to base the film upon, how interesting would a movie about two Brooklyn plumbers taking on monsters from an alternate dimension sound? Actually, don't answer that.

Street Fighter (1994): This one hurts, because it marked the last film appearance of the late Raul Julia, a highly underrated actor. It also featured Jean Claude Van-Damme and pop singer Kylie Minogue. If that's not a recipe for success, then I don't know what is...

Double Dragon (1994): Martial arts "actor" Mark Decascos and "Party of Five" heartthrob Scott Wolf play the identical twin brothers, Jimmy and Billy Lee. Come on, do I even need a sarcastic, smart-ass comment for this one?
