When it rains silicon, it pours. Cirrus Logic released a slew of announcements today that include a DVD Solution Kit and two new TrueDigital Class D amplifiers. The DVD Solution Kit includes DVD processors, Class-D amplifiers, data converters, and digital interface components along with products that include the CS5333 Stereo A/D Converter and the CS4360 six-channel D/A Converter. The kit relies on Cirrus' CS98000 (98K) DVD processor for audio and video processing functions including MP-3 decoding, Dolby Digital, DTS output support, virtual 3D, and multi-region on-screen display (OSD) with a vertical flicker filter. The 98K has a customer programmable RISC core and 32-bit programmable audio DSP to support CD formats, DVD navigation, disk control, video decoding, and up to eight-channel output. Cirrus' two new TrueDigital Class D amplifier solutions include the CS44210 amplifier controller and a low power headphone amplifier called the CS44L10. These two chips are intended to shrink the size of audio products. Finally, Cirrus announced a strategic partnership with International Rectifier to combine Cirrus' new amplifiers with IR's power driver ICs and MOSFETs.
