CES 2006 attendance exceeded 150,000
Better late than never : Just about five months after the show, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) reports that the most recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES) drew a record crowd of 152,203 industry professionals, with more than 25,000 international attendees.
According to the numbers provided, the 2006 CES was the largest CES in history in terms of both attendance and square footage. Attendance in 2006 increased 4.3% over the 2005 mark of 145,868. With the addition of the Sands Expo and Convention Center, 2700 CES exhibitors showcased their wares over a record 1.69 million net square feet of space.
While CES also had to offer more exhibitors and more products than in previous years, the enormous size had a substantial on Las Vegas and especially its transportation system. Even with the support of the new monorail system, thousands of visitors faced hours of waiting in line for a cab, a bus or the train to and from the convention centers.
