Certificate deadline snags 100K Swedes
Online banking customers in Sweden escaped the Y2K bug - only to be outdone by their outdated browsers.
As many as 100,000 Swedes were locked out of their online bank accounts when their failure to upgrade to newer versions of Netscape's browser caused digital certificates to expire at midnight on Dec. 31.
Bank spokesmen said the problem affected about 10 percent of Sweden's Web banking customers.
