Tandberg Data/Inostor: LTO3 Disk Drive For 800 GB
With the new Tandberg 840LTO disk drive, Tandberg Data is completing its LTO product range, making available all three previously available generations of this linear technology. The Tandberg 840LTO disk drive offers users in the mid-range bracket all the advantages of LTO3 technology. It stores up to 400/800 GB on one Ultrium3 cartridge, and thus offers 100 percent more capacity than LTO2. The rate of transfer is also said to be approximately 2.3 times faster, which is a further advantage given increasingly shorter backup windows; it stands at 80/160 MB per second. The backward writing/reading compatibility with LTO2/LTO1 media ensures continuity with regard to data storage, and protection of already implemented investments.
The Tandberg 840LTO has an LCD status display that gives the administrator key disk drive information. Detailed data on the operation and status of the disk drive and media is documented internally, and can be called up at any time. The Tandberg 840LTO is available as an internal and external model, like the Ultrium3 cassettes which are distributed under the Tandberg Data label. Tandberg will be exhibiting its products in Hall 1 on Booth 7F3.
