Pinnacle: New Products For USB 2.0

by

Pinnacle Systems showcased a new external video editing solution with a high-speed USB 2.0 connection. Pinnacle MovieBox Deluxe is the new external leader in the Studio 9 product family and is designed for hobby film-makers who want to work with material from different video sources such as video recorders and camcorders on their PC, enhance them with effects and replay them in various media such as CD/DVD or VHS. MovieBox Deluxe is equipped with the video editing software Pinnacle Studio 9.

At last it is possible to connect a DV camcorder to a USB2 interface, feed in the DV material via USB and control the DV camcorder using the Studio 9 software. In addition, the MovieBox Deluxe allows the material to be written directly onto the hard disk in full resolution and high quality. Pinnacle MovieBox Deluxe will be available in stores from mid-April.

The manufacturer is also introducing the PCTV USB2. This analog TV tuner can be connected via USB 2.0 externally to any PC or notebook and requires no power source of its own. Remote control is unfortunately only available as an option. The software PCTV Vision comes included, which allows time shifting. The package should be commercially available in April.

Coming also in April is the Video Capture Box DVC90 from the subsidiary Dazzle. This solution includes a composite, S-video and two audio inputs. Pinnacle Studio Quickstart software is included, offering video editing and restoration. Since the software also supports MPEG 2 in addition to DV, you can burn DVD's with the film material produced.
