CeBIT 2003 Day 1: A Rainy Beginning

by

The world's biggest computer trade show opened its doors on Wednesday morning in Hanover. On our way there, the restrained atmosphere made itself felt - the usual crush of visitors in the public transport was non-existent. For visitors arriving by car, there was plenty of parking space on the open lot. THG began a hard day's work by visiting well-known manufacturers and partners.

FSP Power Supplies

FSP , the Taiwanese power supply specialist, extends its product portfolio with two interesting new items. Especially interesting for case modders are the Aurora PSU FSP300-60PN(PF) ($100, not incl. tax) and FSP350-60PN(PF) ($120, not incl. tax). The first number in the product name (300 and 350 respectively) indicates the wattage.

One striking thing about the Aurora is the blue background lighting with the fan. Under a normal load, the noise level of the fan should be under 20 dB(A).

Not a lot of bells and whistles, but instead, it's earned the predicate of "ecological power supply." This series is designed for loads from 250 to 300 Watts.

In standby mode, the FSPXX-60GRE uses less than 1 Watt.

This should be of particular interest to ecologically conscientious users. By comparison, standard PSUs gobble up 5 to 8 Watts in standby mode.
