Aquarium: PC Cases From Lian Li

by

The PC-60H1 case with the W-658 side panel.

With a clever marketing gag, the PC case manufacturer Lian-Li attracted quite a bit of attention. The trick: with a special case panel, ambitious case modders can transform their PC into an aquarium. The manufacturer didn't even neglect to include a fish food dispenser. However, Lian Li was unable to tell us how long the fish could survive in such an environment. So, when the fish start dropping off one by one, you're better off if you're not a die-hard animal lover. At least oxygen is supplied here through a pump.

The PC case used here carries the model name PC-6010, which the manufacturer offers in a combo-pack that includes the W-658 side panel. Altogether, it costs $190 (€199). If you want to buy the side panel aquarium on its own, you have to shell out about $90. However, the W-658 can only be combined with specific cases from Lian-Li.

But they don't stop there: Lian Li was at the ASUS stand with a special case for Chip-Con's Prometeia. The Chip-Con system is a cooling solution that can cool the CPU to -53°C. At the stand, they managed to reach 4.1 GHz.

The main advantage of the PC-60H1S is the "Multimedia Facade," which conceals a CD-ROM drive, among others. Multicolor LEDs add a pleasant touch and a modicum of cheer to the otherwise plain design. The front panel allows users easy access to all the multimedia functions. The PC-60H will be available in three versions:

PC-60H1S, (grey); PC-60H1P, (black); PC-60H1W, (white).

In North America, Lian Li cases are available at Ascent on the East Coast, as well as ASI and JCS on the West Coast.
