CATC's USB 2.0 to Ethernet Link
If you've ever wondered how the big OEM computer manufacturers load apps onto the massive numbers of computers they produce, this product may shed a little light on the subject. Computer Access Technology just let us know about its new Industrial Link USB-to-Ethernet connectivity product, the EL200. The device conforms to USB 2.0 and Ethernet specifications and is intended to provide an Ethernet interface for USB-equipped computers in industrial applications like the loading of software and data files on personal computer assembly lines. The EL200 simulates a network interface card in an external unit. It provides sustained data transfer rates of up to 70 megabits per second, depending on the computer and network system configuration and can be connected between any USB-equipped notebook, portable, or desktop computer and an Ethernet LAN. Other features include the ability to connect a PC operating under DOS to an Ethernet network through a USB 2.0 port, and compliance with the OHCI (Open Host Controller Interface), UHCI (Universal Host Controller Interface) and EHCI (Enhanced Host Controller Interface) specifications.
